Each year, the UNSW Business School Career Mentoring Program connects students with experienced professionals to enrich their academic journey. The 2024 program matched 135 students with alumni, providing training in professional behavior and networking. This initiative aims to strengthen the alumni network and empower future leaders.
In 2024, the program emphasized Women in Business, with 69 students participating in a dedicated stream. This stream aimed to foster connections, enhance professional development, and support female students across various fields. Ragini Tyagi, a Master of Commerce student, found this mentorship opportunity transformative.
Ragini entered the Women in Business Mentoring Program with a checklist of goals but found much more than professional advice. Her mentor, Alexandra Bosnjak, guided her beyond career strategies, creating a supportive environment for personal growth and skill development. Ragini’s experience led to practical tips that she successfully applied in her role as a Digital Analyst.
Anthony Matis’s workshop during the program was a turning point for Ragini. His insights on gratitude, professionalism, and networking reshaped her perspective, emphasizing the value of human connections over competition. Ragini learned to play to her strengths and embrace a growth mindset, leading to valuable peer support and personal growth.
Ragini’s success story in securing an internship with Chartered Accountants Australia & New Zealand showcases the program’s impact. She credits the skills, connections, and courage gained from the mentorship for this achievement. Ragini acknowledges the support of Anna Dosler, whose encouragement kept her motivated throughout the program.
The program not only enhanced Ragini’s professional skills but also instilled in her a deeper self-awareness and confidence. She encourages others to embrace growth opportunities, step out of their comfort zones, and approach challenges with kindness and a growth mindset.
Having experienced the benefits firsthand, Ragini highlights the importance of mentorship in achieving professional success. The Career Mentoring Program at UNSW Business School provides students with guidance from experienced professionals, preparing them for future endeavors and enriching their academic journey.
As Ragini reflects on her journey through the Women in Business Mentoring Program, she stands equipped with not just skills but also a newfound self-assurance to navigate her unique path forward. Her story serves as a testament to the transformative power of mentorship and personal growth in shaping future success.
