The university has also climbed nearly 100 places over the past five years, showcasing its growth as an esteemed international institution.
Breaking into the top 100 globally for research citations per faculty, RMIT now stands at 96 in this category. Furthermore, the university has enhanced its standing within the international academic community, positioning just outside the top 200 universities worldwide.
Notably, RMIT leads the way in Australia and ranks 45th globally for attracting academic talent from around the world. This achievement reflects the university’s reputation for diversity, global collaboration, and excellence in teaching and research.
Angel Calderon, RMIT’s Director of Strategic Insights, highlighted the university’s positive trajectory despite a slight dip in its overall ranking. He emphasized the university’s improving scores in academic reputation and research citations, especially amid a competitive landscape where many other Australian institutions faced declines.
In a separate ranking, RMIT was lauded for its sustainability efforts, securing the 56th spot globally and 11th in Australia. The Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings, which evaluate universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, recognized RMIT’s achievements in Reducing Inequalities, ranking the university at 5 globally in this category.
Mr. Calderon acknowledged the evolving standards for sustainability leadership in universities worldwide, commending RMIT’s commitment to maintaining a top-tier global ranking for Reducing Inequalities and expressing dedication to further building on this success.
