The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has opened applications for the 2025-26 ITA Student-Athlete Mentorship Program, aimed at enhancing the personal and professional growth of current student-athletes through guidance from successful college tennis alumni.
This initiative, part of ITA’s commitment to providing development opportunities for student-athletes, complements existing programs like the ITA Student-Athlete Council and ITA Rising Coaches Program.
Designed for student-athletes in their final college year, the ITA Student-Athlete Mentorship Program will pair 15 individuals with 15 members of the ITA College Tennis Alumni Network to foster a collaborative relationship focusing on the transition to the professional realm post-graduation.
Throughout the academic year, from September to April, student-athletes will be matched with mentors based on factors such as career interests, level of tennis experience, and post-college concerns.
Before commencing the year-long program, mentors and mentees will attend an orientation session conducted by an ITA staff member. Monthly objectives will guide the pairings, with reflections on previous discussions to track progress.
The program is now accepting applications from both student-athletes seeking mentorship and college tennis alumni interested in becoming mentors. The deadline for applications is July 31st.
The ITA, established in 1956, oversees college tennis across various levels and administers championships and rankings for thousands of student-athletes. It also recognizes excellence in academics, leadership, and sportsmanship through its awards program.
