Australia’s top universities are planning to increase tuition fees for the academic year 2025. The country’s leading institutions, including the University of Melbourne, Monash University, and the University of Sydney, will see tuition fees ranging from AUD$26,500 to AUD$113,000 for international students. This adjustment in fees comes following the release of the 2025 Times Higher Education university rankings, which highlighted Australia’s prominent standing in global higher education.
In the latest rankings, the University of Melbourne claimed the top spot among Australian universities, securing the 39th position globally. Other prestigious institutions such as the Australian National University and the University of Queensland also maintained their presence in the top 200. The increased tuition fees for 2025 reflect a rise of approximately AUD$2,000-3,000 compared to current rates, with the highest fees observed in specialized fields like clinical medicine and oral surgery.
While the University of Melbourne offers programs in music, visual, and performing arts at the lowest tuition fee of AUD$26,500, disciplines like arts, education, social sciences, and humanities generally have more affordable fees. In addition to tuition, international students are required to cover expenses for health insurance, student amenities and services fees, and other related charges. The cost of living for international students in Australia is estimated to vary from AUD$20,000 to AUD$39,000 per year.

Among these students, Vietnam ranks fifth in terms of international student population, following countries like China, India, Nepal, and the Philippines.
