University Student Experience Enhanced through UTS and Boomi Collaboration

In a bid to revolutionize the student experience and streamline operations, the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) has joined forces with Boomi, a cloud-based platform provider. With a bustling student population exceeding 40,000, UTS sought a robust system to handle vast amounts of data effectively. This partnership marks a significant step towards modernizing data infrastructure to elevate student services and operational efficiency.

UTS faces the challenge of managing copious data generated by its extensive student body. To fortify its digital roadmap, the university embraced Boomi’s Managed Cloud Services (MCS), a cutting-edge cloud platform tailored for seamless data integration within Amazon Web Services (AWS). This initiative stands as a cornerstone in UTS’s technological advancements, representing one of the most extensive projects undertaken by the institution.

A pivotal aspect of this transition involved migrating the university’s core student management system to the cloud, necessitating the realignment of 400 integrations across diverse digital platforms. Anthony Heiler, UTS’s Head of Enterprise Platforms, emphasized the smoothness of this transition, citing Boomi’s tailored approach in ensuring a seamless shift without disrupting student activities.

The migration has yielded substantial benefits, notably in expediting student grade processing. Formerly, the process took a cumbersome 16 days to finalize grades, a timeline now condensed to a mere 24 hours. This efficiency enhancement translates to improved student satisfaction and reduced administrative burdens, evidenced by a decline in support requests.

Moreover, Boomi’s cloud solution has bolstered UTS’s capacity to manage data surges during peak periods, such as student enrollment. The system now effortlessly handles up to 300,000 documents per day, empowering students to secure desired classes promptly and fostering a conducive learning environment.

Throughout this transformative journey, Boomi provided unwavering support to UTS, ensuring the platform aligned with the university’s operational demands. Jennifer Leech, UTS’s Senior Platform Manager Integration, lauded Boomi’s collaboration, underscoring the platform’s diverse capabilities in meeting UTS’s evolving needs.

As UTS continues to harness the power of technology to enhance the university experience, the partnership with Boomi signifies a significant stride towards optimizing student services and operational efficacy. This collaboration exemplifies a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in the realm of higher education, promising a brighter future for university students at UTS.
