The University of Bath’s campus is buzzing with excitement as five outstanding university students have been chosen for the prestigious Mitacs Globalink Research Internship in Canada for the upcoming Summer of 2025. This remarkable opportunity allows these students to delve into research projects in various fields while immersing themselves in a new international setting.
Mitacs serves as a vital link between academic institutions and the industry, promoting collaborative research to address real-world challenges. By facilitating partnerships between academia and businesses, Mitacs opens doors for students and researchers to gain hands-on experience and make meaningful contributions to their fields of study.
The Globalink Research Internship is a highly competitive program that attracts applications from undergraduate students worldwide. Among the top applicants, these five exceptional University of Bath students have secured spots for twelve-week research internships at one of Mitacs’ partner institutions spread across Canada.
Each student will focus on a unique research topic during their internship:
– Claire Brook, a Chemistry student, will research ‘Environmental remediation via the study of the adsorption and desorption of environmentally harmful gases in porous materials’ at Memorial University of Newfoundland.
– Abbie Thomas, a Social Sciences student, will investigate ‘The kinematic and kinetics of speed kayak’ at Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia.
– Emily Sacchi, an Engineering student, will explore ‘Unsteady Flow over Obstacles’ at Queen’s University in Ontario.
– Aidan Chan, a Mechanical Engineering student, will work on ‘Development of Robotic Self-Replicating Machine for the Moon’ at Carleton University in Ottawa.
– Sanal Jayakody, an Engineering student, will delve into ‘Development of 4D navigation display for the cockpit’ at École Polytechnique de Montréal in Quebec.
These students will now collaborate with their Canadian professors to gear up for their enriching internships before embarking on their research journey in different Canadian cities.
