Perez, who also holds the role of diversity officer and advisor to the president at Loras College, will officially start his new position on May 30, according to an announcement made by Southern Connecticut State University. Having been associated with Loras College since 2016, Perez has a background in political science and international studies, having earned his bachelor’s degree from the institution. He furthered his education by obtaining a master’s degree in student affairs administration and higher education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, as well as a doctorate in higher education and leadership studies from Edgewood College.
During his time at Loras College, Perez has been actively involved in advising the college’s chapter of Iowa’s League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC). His contributions have been recognized with the National Adviser of the Year award from LULAC in both 2023 and 2024.
This transition marks a significant change for Perez as he moves from the familiar surroundings of Loras College to embrace a new challenge in the realm of diversity, equity, and inclusion at Southern Connecticut State University. His departure underscores the impact he has had on the Loras College community and signals a new chapter in his professional journey. The move also highlights the growing importance of promoting diversity and inclusivity within academic institutions across the United States.
