Flight Attendant Elbowed in Mid-Air Altercation

Chaotic scenes erupted aboard a long-haul flight from Taiwan to California when a dispute over seating escalated into a physical altercation.

The altercation unfolded mere hours into the nearly 12-hour flight on Tuesday, sparked by a passenger’s decision to switch seats due to concerns about their neighbor’s coughing, as reported by What’sTheJam.

Upon returning to reclaim the seat, the original occupant attempted to confront the seat poacher, resulting in a brief scuffle. Flight attendants swiftly intervened, attempting to separate the individuals involved. However, amidst the chaos, one flight attendant was accidentally struck in the head by an elbow.

Despite initial efforts to quell the disturbance, the situation escalated as the seat poacher once again engaged in aggressive behavior towards the other passenger, disregarding the flight attendant’s attempts to intervene.

Passengers on board witnessed the alarming altercation, with some stepping in to assist the crew in diffusing the situation. The incident occurred approximately three hours into EVA Air Flight BR08 from Taipei City to San Francisco.

Upon landing, the disruptive passengers were handed over to the authorities for further investigation. EVA Airways has refrained from providing official comments on the incident.

The incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by airline staff in maintaining order and safety aboard flights, highlighting the importance of swift and effective response protocols to handle such situations.
